🐕 5 Treats: Meet the Coast Guard dog, DOTD Whiskey, our top famous dogs, and Stitches adventure
Monday 5/4: 5 Treats Nibbles

This Dog Served 11 Years in the Coast Guard
Sometimes, the best crew members show up when you least expect it. That was the case with Sinbad, a mixed-breed dog who ended up aboard the USCGC George W. Campbell and stayed for more than a decade. Originally meant as a gift, Sinbad found his way onto the ship after being turned away from an apartment—and instead of being sent back, he became part of the crew.
At a time leading up to World War II, the ship’s captain made an unexpected call: keep the dog. What followed was something bigger than anyone planned. Taking care of Sinbad gave the crew a shared responsibility, and over time, he became a steady source of comfort and connection during long stretches at sea. He was even officially enlisted, signing paperwork with a paw print, and later earned the title of “Chief Dog.”
Sinbad served 11 years alongside the United States Coast Guard, living to 14 years old—most of them spent right where he belonged, with his crew.

Dog of the Day, Whiskey
This 7-year-old miniature dachshund is a rescue with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Whiskey is smart, lovable, and the kind of companion who’s always right by your side—whether it’s for a walk, a nap, or just hanging out at home.
From his rescue story to his everyday loyalty, Whiskey proves that the best dogs truly do find their way to the right people. ❤️
Cheers to you, Whiskey, you’re a good boy through and through! 🐶

Thank you to our reader, Irma, for sending in a picture of Whiskey. Give your pup the spotlight by submitting them for the dog of the day!

Emergency Dog Surgeries Can Cost $10K+
According to a study, 80% of pets will have some sort of medical emergency in their lifetime. With costs continuing to climb, many dog owners are wondering how they can afford a surgery in case of an emergency.
Some dog owners have separate savings accounts ready to cover these extreme costs, but now there is an even better solution with the Nibbles Pet Rewards Credit Card.
The card comes with complimentary pet insurance for one eligible pet, so your doggo can be covered, and you get 3x rewards at the vet, at pet stores, and on pet services.
Save hundreds annually on premiums alone and potentially thousands in case of an emergency. All this with the no annual fee Nibbles Credit Card.
Nibbles is not a bank. The Nibbles Card is issued by Lead Bank. No annual fee. Other fees may apply. Eligibility requirements apply. See nibbles.com for details. T&Cs apply.
Thank you to Nibbles for sponsoring Daily Dig.
