Ear infections are one of the most common medical issues that can happen in dogs. It’s important to understand the causes, symptoms, and treatment options in case your pup ever has any ear issues.

Dogs with large ears might need a little extra help keeping them clear of debris and anything that could lead to infections. To clean out their ears at home, you’ll need cotton balls, an ear syringe filled with cleaning solutions, and towels to help with clean up.

There are three options for easy DIY dog ear cleaners. Natural oils can help stop the buildup of wax. Use a combination of a few drops of olive oil, almond oil, and mineral oils to drop in your dog’s ears, massage their ears, and then use a cloth for removal. Hydrogen peroxide is another common option. You mix one part 3% hydrogen peroxide with one part water and then flush the ears with the solution. The final option involves vinegar, but you should not use this if you suspect your dogs have an ear infection already.
