Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day."
Terminally Ill Dog Experiences a Music Festival
Ashley McClain is the owner of a beautiful dog named Kygo. This seven-year-old pup was diagnosed with the terminal cancer, osteosarcoma. Ashley put together a little bucket list of things she wanted her beloved pup to experience. One of them was getting photographed by the Dogist in New York City. She got her wish on June 2, and that Instagram post led to thousands of messages of support.
Ashley mentioned that one of the only things left on the list was for the dog to meet the DJ he was named after. DJ Kygo was sent that post by hundreds of people and decided to make something happen. He admitted that he had never had a fan interaction like this before and invited Ashley and Kygo to the Palm Tree Music Festival. This moment was incredibly memorable.
In addition to that special moment, the man behind the Dogist account helped offset some of Kygo’s medical costs and donated an additional $10,000 to canine cancer research.
Get Your Dog's Attention and Keep It
Dogs are easily distracted, and it’s always hard to tell where their focus will turn. If you have been struggling to get your dog to pay attention to you and listen, it’s important to follow a few key steps. These will help you build those habits and behaviors.
Build stronger relationships. The strength of your bond impacts your dog's attentiveness. If you constantly make your dog happy, they will be more likely to pay attention to you. You’ll have their attention if the dog associates you with treats, outings, toys, and more.
Putting attention on cue. Work on a command that gets your dog’s attention. This can be an easy skill to learn if you practice. It’s typically a top priority for professional trainers.
Work on other attention cues. Use the word “watch”, which will teach your dog to look at a specific place and get their attention quickly.
These skills are incredibly important if you are going to let your dog be off-leash. Keep practicing and keep those skills sharp because you’ll use them all the time.
Protect Against Rising Vet Costs with Pet Insurance
The cost of veterinary services has been rising recently, with some common surgical procedures costing up to $7,000. Pet insurance can help cover accidents, illnesses, and even routine care, with some plans reimbursing up to 90% of costs. Our Best Pet Insurance list can help you find affordable coverage starting at just $10 a month so you can focus on what matters most – your furry friend's well-being.

Important Meal Time Questions
This Instagram account featuring a German shepherd named Riggs points out one of the most interesting things about owning a dog. This reel says that having a dog means that 90% of the time, one of you is wondering what the other is eating. That’s definitely true anytime we see one of our dogs potentially chewing on a foreign object. What about you?
