8 Fall Activities to Do with Your Pup

Fall is the perfect season for more intentional activities with your pup. The crisp air, beautiful foliage, and festive gatherings offer endless chances for bonding and fun. Ready to enjoy the season together? Here are 8 fall activities your pup will feel honored to experience with you!

  1. Fall Hiking

Thereā€™s something special about hiking in the fall, and your pup will love it just as much. With cooler temperatures, your dog can hike more comfortably, and there are even more sights and sounds to enjoy ā€” like crunchy leaves and squirrels busily foraging for nuts. The vibrant fall foliage is one of the most beautiful sights to witness (and yes, your pup can see yellow!). Just remember to keep your pup leashed and be mindful of other hikers, as youā€™re likely to encounter other dogs along the way.

  1. Pumpkin Patches

Ah, pumpkins ā€” the ultimate symbol of fall. But is it really fall if you donā€™t go pumpkin picking? Itā€™s one of those activities we all look forward to, and what makes it even better is bringing your dog along. Yep, many pumpkin patches welcome well-behaved, leashed pups! Your doggo will love exploring the patch while you search for the perfect pumpkin, and some patches even offer extra fun, like corn mazes or friendly farm animals your pup can say hello to (if allowed).

  1. Apple Orchard Visits

Imagine spending a crisp fall morning at the apple orchard with your pup by your side! Just like pumpkin patches, some orchards welcome dogs, so check the rules of your local spot and enjoy picking apples together. Apples are also a delicious and healthy treat for your pup (just remember to remove the seeds and core). And, Iā€™m sure there are plenty of adorable photo ops at orchards for you and your pup to capture the perfect fall picture.

  1. Play in a Pile of Leaves

Kids, adults, dogsā€”everyone loves jumping into a big pile of leaves. Pups are sensory seekers and canā€™t resist the freshly fallen, crunchy leaves. Rake up a pile and let your dog dive in and play. Itā€™s the perfect way to enjoy some fall outdoor time together. For extra fun, toss in their favorite toys for them to find and sniff out.

  1. Fall Festivals and Markets

Many towns come together for outdoor fall festivals and markets this time of yearā€”and more often than not, theyā€™re filled with pups! These events are an awesome chance for new experiences and socialization, especially if your dog enjoys meeting new people and being in lively crowds. Plus, youā€™re bound to stumble upon some pup-friendly treats.

  1. Halloween Costumes and Events

Halloween is that one time of year when you can dress your dog up in anything you wantā€”whether itā€™s spooky, adorable, or downright hilarious. Of course, as long as they like costumes or donā€™t mind. We donā€™t want them to feel tortured! There are tons of fun events like pet costume parades, contests, and Halloween parties you can join. Or, you could throw your own Halloween bash for your pup and their friends. Dress them up and enjoy a day filled with pups in costumesā€”what could be more fun than that?

  1. Enter a Race

Fall is prime time for 5Ks and races, and what better way to mix things up than by entering one with your pup? Thanksgiving Day races, like turkey trots, are especially popular, and many of them support great causes. It's also a fun way to switch up your dog's usual walk! Just be sure to check with the organizers to see if dogs are allowed.

  1. Camping

If your dog loves the great outdoors, a fall camping trip is the perfect adventure to share. Fall camping is cozy and itā€™s just like an overnight hike with so many sights, sounds, and smells for your pup to explore. Thereā€™s something about camping that helps you slow down and be in the present moment with your dog. Plus, snuggling up with your pup to stay warm under the stars? It doesnā€™t get much better than that!

What are some of your favorite things to do with your pup in the fall? Weā€™d love to hear how you and your dog make the most of this cozy season! Let us know!

Frozen Pumpkin Dog Treats

Fall may be here, but the warm weather lingers for many of us! These frozen pumpkin coconut oil treats are the perfect way to enjoy the flavors of fall with a refreshing twist. Plus, theyā€™re packed with nutrients that benefit your pup!

Why Pumpkin?

We all recognize pumpkin as a superfood for our pups. Itā€™s full of fiber, which helps with digestion, and it's loaded with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as minerals like iron and potassium. Great for keeping your pup feeling good while enjoying a tasty treat!

Youā€™ll Need:

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 1 cup extra-virgin coconut oil

  • Ā½ cup canned pumpkin

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

Instructions:

  1. Microwave peanut butter and coconut oil for 30 seconds, and stir until smooth.

  2. Mix in pumpkin, cinnamon, and turmeric.

  3. Pour into silicone molds (try fall-themed or dog-themed!) and freeze for 4 hours.

  4. Let treats soften for a few minutes before serving.

This recipe will give you about 28 mini treats and last in the freezer for up to 1 month. Enjoy, pups!

DOTD - Meet Billie

Billie is a 3-month-old Bernedoodle with the most adorable puppy fluff and a teeny-tiny nose that's simply irresistible. His black, white, and brown coat is gorgeous, and we can only imagine how big and beautiful he'll grow up to be. Although Billie has been with his family for about 2 months, he's already showered with love. His mom mixes his healthy dog food with fresh spinach, collard greens, and hamburgerā€”talk about a lucky pup! Thanks for sharing Billie's cuteness with us!
