Are You Walking Your Dog Enough?

Turns out, walks aren’t just a treat for dogs. They’re essential. Recent numbers show that 30–70% of dog owners walk their pups regularly, while about 40% admit they fall short. Those who do stick with it average nine walks a week, or about 11 full days a year on the move!

It’s proof that even if life gets hectic, people still want to make sure their four-legged friends get the activity they need.

And here’s the uplifting part: walking your dog is good for you, too. Owners are 34% more likely to meet their own exercise goals just by grabbing the leash. A simple walk around the block can make both tails and spirits seem a little higher.

Dog of the Day, Zuma

Trail Safety Tips For Dogs

Crisp fall weather makes the trails hard to resist, and many of us love bringing our dogs along. But keeping them safe takes a little extra planning.

First, match the trail to your dog’s ability. A senior pup or a smaller breed may not handle steep or rocky terrain as easily as a younger, active dog. Shady paths and water access are always a plus. Don’t forget a collapsible water bowl. Hydration is key on long treks!

Leashes are a must, no matter how well-trained your dog is. Wildlife, other hikers, or just a good scent can quickly distract them. If you hike often, a GPS tracker with lights or sound alerts can offer extra peace of mind.

When the hike is over, give your dog a quick once-over for ticks. Paired with flea and tick prevention, this simple step helps keep them healthy long after the trail ends.

As our muscles age, they naturally lose mass, strength, and function – a result of certain muscle fibers shrinking – contributing to fatigue and weakness beginning as early as our 30s. Recent research highlights that the key player in this aging process is our mitochondria, tiny-but-mighty organelles that produce more than 90% of our body’s energy. Importantly, scientists have found a strong link between decreased mitochondrial health and muscle health decline with aging, emphasizing the importance of maintaining these cellular engines.

A new way to support and improve muscle health as we age, Mitopure® by Timeline is clinically shown to meaningfully boost our mitochondrial health to improve muscle strength, without any change in exercise required.
