Bring Home a Pup for Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving gets busy for most of us, but it can be the quietest and hardest time for shelter pets. That’s why Best Friends Animal Society is running a two-night holiday sleepover, inviting people to pick up a dog or cat today and give them a warm, temporary home through the holiday. Everything is provided (food, treats, toys, even a crate) so fosters can focus on cuddles, calm, and getting to know their guest.
These short breaks genuinely help animals decompress. A night or two in a real home gives staff a better picture of a pet’s personality, which makes it easier to match them with adopters. And if someone happens to fall in love? They’re welcome to extend the foster, or adopt altogether.
For anyone curious, the West LA center is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, November 26. Other Best Friends locations, from Houston to NYC, are joining in too. It’s a small commitment that can make the holiday feel a little brighter, for you and for them.

Dog of the Day, Sadie
Meet today’s dog of the day, Sadie! Her puppy dog eyes are working overtime. Whether she’s asking for a treat, a walk, or just your undivided attention, it’s impossible to say no to those eyes.
Thank you to Daily Dig Debbie for sharing Sadie with us. Want your dog featured as dog of the day? Send us a photo, their name, and a few fun facts!

3 Surprising Reasons Why You Should Buy Frozen Fish on the Internet
Frozen fish? Not weird at all. At Wild Alaskan Company, we’re huge fans of frozen seafood — here’s why we love it:
1. Locked-in freshness. We freeze wild-caught seafood shortly after harvest so that it retains its fresh taste and texture. It’s the closest you can get to having it on the boat in Alaska.
2. Often fresher than grocery store “fresh.” Seafood at the counter is often previously frozen fish that’s been thawed for display. Do you really know how many days it’s been sitting on ice? (We don’t either!)
3. Freezer-friendly convenience. Stock up once, and you’re ready for healthy, delicious meals all month — no last-minute trips to the store.

Dog-Friendly Thanksgiving Foods
Thanksgiving brings incredible smells and plenty of curious noses, which is why it helps to know what’s safe for dogs before the cooking starts. Some foods actually make great small treats: plain turkey meat, unseasoned potatoes, cooked sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, and even a little plain pumpkin. All are simple, mild, and gentle on your dog’s stomach.
The trickier part is everything else on the table. Turkey skin, gravy, stuffing, buttery casseroles, garlic, onions, grapes, chocolate, and anything rich or sugary can lead to digestive issues. Bones are a big no. They splinter easily and can turn an innocent snack into an emergency vet visit. And because guests love sneaking “just a taste,” giving them a quick heads-up can save you a lot of trouble.
If you want your dog to feel included, offer a small plate of dog-safe bites. This can be a safe way to include your dog in the Thanksgiving festivities.
