Add in spots like Balboa Park, Seaport Village, and One Paseo, and San Diego feels like a city built for dogs who prefer their walks with a little scenery.

Some dogs hear the car keys and sprint to the door. Others hear them and suddenly become very busy hiding. Whether dogs like to travel really depends on the dog, their past experiences, and what kind of trip is involved.

Dogs tend to feel safest in familiar places, especially their home, yard, favorite walking route, and the people or pets they know best. New places can feel exciting because they come with fresh smells, new dogs, and different things to explore.
