The Eco-Friendly Advantages of Puppy Litter vs. Puppy Pads

Potty training a puppy usually means choosing between puppy pads and puppy litter. One is super common, the other a little newer—but one has a clear eco edge. Spoiler: it’s probably not the one made of plastic.

Most puppy pads are single-use and non-biodegradable. They pile up fast, especially with a young dog learning the ropes. Puppy litter, on the other hand, can be made from recycled paper, wood, or even grass seed. Some types are compostable or flushable, cutting down waste in a big way.

Litter trays are also reusable. You scoop, rinse, refill. It’s a system that mirrors how cat litter works, and many dogs adjust just fine.

For dog parents looking to train their pups and reduce their footprint, switching from pads to litter could be a solid step forward.

The Puppy Pad Alternative You’ve Never Heard Of

Training a pup to go indoors doesn’t have to mean throwing away plastic pads every day. Puppy Go Potty offers an eco-friendly alternative: a natural paper fiber dog litter that’s a smart alternative to traditional plastic puppy pads.

This 100% biodegradable litter is made from large, super-absorbent paper nuggets that won’t stick to your dog’s paws, making cleanup a breeze. It’s also dust-free, lightweight, and contains a pheromone attractant to help train your dog quickly and easily.

Perfect for small dogs, senior dogs, or pups recovering from illness, Puppy Go Potty provides a designated indoor potty area while controlling odors naturally. It’s a great solution not just for pet parents, but also for trainers, rescues, and dog daycares looking for an earth-friendly way to manage indoor waste.

Your Guide to Adult Dog Potty Training

Bringing home a rescued adult dog is a big win, for you and them. But if your new buddy wasn’t housetrained before, you might be facing a few early puddles. The good news? Adult dogs can usually learn pretty quickly, especially with some consistency.

The key is a predictable routine. Feed meals at the same time daily and take them out first thing in the morning, after meals, and before bed. Stick with them outside until they go. Some dogs take a while to sniff around before settling into the task. A crate can also help manage their freedom while they’re still learning the ropes.

Watch for pacing, sniffing, or circling, as these are all signs they need to go out. If they don’t go outside, pop them back in their crate for 10 minutes and try again.

It might take a little extra patience, especially if they’ve never had to ask before. But they want to get it right—and with your help, they will.

She Was Abandoned—Now She Has a Family

Baby Gina was barely a few months old when she was found wandering the halls of a Bronx apartment building, emaciated, weak, and barely hanging on. The team at NYC Second Chance Rescue rushed her to a vet, unsure if she’d survive even the next 48 hours.

She was so malnourished, doctors had to treat her cautiously to avoid refeeding syndrome, a potentially fatal complication that can happen when food is reintroduced too quickly. She also had a UTI, anemia, and signs of long-term neglect like weak enamel from malnutrition. But despite it all, Gina didn’t give up.

Just days later, she began gaining strength. She traded the ICU for a soft onesie and is now settling into her new home that is complete with a yard, a poodle, a terrier, and more toys than she knows what to do with.

She may be tiny, but Baby Gina’s story is mighty.
