Happy Tuesday:

…And more! ā¤ļø

True or False?

Dogs only dream about things they experience while awake.

(scroll to the bottom to find the answer!)

Why Some Dogs Fear Rain, Baths, or Swimming

Some dogs sprint away from a bath like it’s a monster. Others are personally offended by a single raindrop. Sound familiar? You’re not alone—and your dog’s reaction makes more sense than you might think.

Many pups simply haven’t been exposed to water in safe, positive ways. Baths might mean slippery floors, stinging eyes, or scary restraint. Rain? That’s cold, noisy, and unpredictable. And swimming? Not every dog is built for it, or confident enough to try.

Here’s the good news: with a little prep, you can help your dog feel more comfortable. Start small. Let them sniff the tub when it’s empty. Walk near water without forcing contact. Pair each step with treats, toys, or calm praise.

Rain gear for dogs (yes, it exists) can also help. And don’t underestimate your own influence. If you treat water like it’s no big deal, your pup just might believe you.

Do you have any tips that helped your dog get used to the water? Send them in, we’d love to hear from you!

Does Your Dog Hate Bathtime? Try This

Some dogs have a special talent for picking up smells. Whether it’s from a muddy trail, a nap in the sun, or just being a dog, they somehow always manage to bring a little extra something home.

That’s where Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Dog Deodorizing Spritz comes in. This no-rinse spray makes it easy to freshen up your pup between baths—no suds, no wrestling, no tub required. Just a few spritzes help moisturize the coat, add shine, and fight those stinky smells at the source.

Choose from two gentle scents made just for dogs and their humans: White Peach (sweet and ripe) or Sweet Chamomile (soft and calming). Both are made with pet-friendly ingredients, pH-balanced, and veterinarian-tested—so your dog smells great without anything harsh on their skin or fur.

Tips & tricks we recommend:

  • Spray 6 inches (or a paw’s length!) away from the back of their ears to their tail, while avoiding your pup’s nose, mouth, and eye area

  • Massage and brush into fur

  • Let dry!

What To Do If Your Dog’s Itchy

You love your dog, but the constant scratching and licking at 2 a.m.? Not exactly peaceful. If your pup is itchy all the time, there’s usually a reason—and luckily, there are a few things you can try at home.

First, rule out fleas. Even one bite can send some dogs into an itching spiral. Make sure your pup’s on a reliable flea preventative, and if you haven’t in a while, give them a bath with a gentle oatmeal shampoo made for dogs.

Dry skin is another common culprit. Fish oil (especially from sardines or anchovies) can help support the skin barrier, but go slow—too much can upset sensitive stomachs.

If bathtime is a battle, look for mousse or spray-on treatments. And for some dogs, a diet made for sensitive skin makes a noticeable difference.

Still itchy? Red or scabby skin means it’s time to call your vet. Catching it early can save your dog from discomfort and you from more unwanted 2 a.m. wake-ups.

Dog of the Day, Tobi McToberson

Daily Dig reader Krystina shared this sweet throwback of Tobi McToberson, freshly home and already stealing hearts.

With those soulful eyes and little white paws, Tobi wasted no time settling in—claiming her crate, her toys, and, most importantly, her people. Even on day one, she had that ā€œI know I’m adorableā€ look down to a science.

Thanks for sharing your precious pup with us, Krystina! Want your dog featured as the Daily Dig Dog of the Day? Send a photo and a few fun facts—they might be next!

šŸ¤” True or False: True! Like humans, dogs do experience REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, which is when dreaming occurs. It’s believed that dogs dream about the things they’ve experienced while awake, like chasing a ball or playing with their owners.
