True or False?

Dogs don’t get cavities like humans do.

Dogs Seem to Have a Favorite Color

You may know your dog has a favorite toy, but what about a favorite color? A new study suggests that for many pups, the answer is yes, and that color is yellow.

Researchers in India offered 134 street dogs three bowl options: yellow, blue, and gray. In test after test, whether bowls were empty or held food, yellow came out on top. Even when dogs were given a choice between an empty yellow bowl and a food-filled gray one, most still chose yellow.

The preference held whether the food was a biscuit or chicken, suggesting it wasn’t just the smell that drew them in.

Researchers aren’t sure exactly why dogs favored yellow so strongly. It might be linked to how they see contrast, or the kinds of food they typically find. Either way, next time you’re shopping for a toy or bowl? Yellow might just be the top pick.

Dog of the Day, Onnie

Daily Dig reader Maria shared this up-close shot of pure love—meet Onnie, a 3.5-year-old rescue Sheepadoodle with a heart as big as her fluff.

Onnie spends her days charming everyone she meets (and sometimes their shoes), napping in luxury, and greeting the local high school crowd like she’s the unofficial mayor. She’s got a soft spot for cheese, but don’t even think about not sharing—she’ll let you know. This sweet, snuggly pup has brought so much joy to Maria’s family, and it shows in every happy wag and soulful stare.

Thanks for sharing your sweet girl with us, Maria! Want your pup featured as the Daily Dig Dog of the Day? Send in a photo and a few fun facts—they might be next!

Meet the Sled Dog Puppies of Denali

Denali National Park just welcomed five new four-pawed team members. Born in early May, Squall, Storm, Graupel, Dew, and Fog are the newest sled dog recruits, and their early days are streaming live on Denali’s beloved Puppy Cam.

Each adorable pup is part of a long tradition: Denali is the only national park with a working sled dog kennel. In winter, rangers rely on these dogs to patrol millions of acres of wilderness. Their names honor weather and water, in celebration of the park’s partnership with the National Weather Service.

As they grow, the pups will explore the tundra, get used to booties, and train alongside older dogs. By their first birthday, they’ll have logged hundreds of miles.

For now, though, they’re stealing hearts and slurping kibble, one Puppy Cam view at a time.
