Messi is an eight-year-old Labrador Retriever who has been working as a Transportation Security Administration passenger screening canine. The TSA knew he was a good fit because he loved watching airplanes and playing at Gravelly Point near Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, DC.

After a long career, Messi received a surprise party to celebrate his retirement. He was the longest-serving passenger screening canine at this airport. His handler told everyone that Messi loves playing with tennis balls, so the crew decided to shower him with tennis balls. He was overwhelmed with excitement and will have plenty of his favorite toys to play with in his free time.

Dogs should not drink the same beer as people do because alcohol is toxic to dogs, but there are some alternatives you can provide. Make your dog their own beer with this easy recipe, and let them enjoy a nice beverage alongside you this weekend.

Dog Beer

You’ll need: chicken or beef broth (find an option without onions or garlic), nutritional yeast, and turmeric.

• Add two tablespoons of nutritional yeast to one quart of broth. The yeast is good for canine skin, hair, and digestion.

• Add an optional ½ teaspoon of ground turmeric, which has anti-inflammatory properties.

• Simmer the broth mixture over low heat for 20 minutes and cool to room temperature.

• Serve to your dog over their food or in their own bowl/mug. The recommended amount is one fluid ounce per 10 pounds of body weight once or twice daily.

• Store the pretend beer in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to three months.
