Cozy Night-In Idea: Starring You, Your Dog, and a Bag of Treats
Sometimes the best date nights happen on your living room floor with a cozy blanket, your favorite snacks, and your dog. If youāre not heading out this weekend, try turning a night in into something special for both of you.
Start with a cozy setup. Think big blanket fort, extra pillows, and maybe even matching pajamas (yes, dog ones exist). And donāt forget to pick a pup-approved movie! Our favorites are Homeward Bound, Balto, and Chestnut: Hero of Central Park.
No movie night is truly complete without snacks. While you settle in with chocolate-covered popcorn or your favorite snack, treat your pup to dog-safe desserts to make the occasion extra special.
If your dog is feeling too playful to make it through the whole movie? Hide treats around the house for a scent game. This can make for great enrichment and bonding.
Small nights like these can help strengthen your connection and give your dog some extra joy. A little planning turns an ordinary evening into quality time neither of you will forget. Plus, who doesnāt love a movie night?

Dog of the Day, Zoey
Daily Dig reader Marilyn shared this festive snapshot of birthday girl Zoey, who just turned 6 on June 18āand celebrated in full bloom.
Wearing her custom party hat and surrounded by flowers, Zoey spent the day doing what she loves most: playing with her paw pals and enjoying plenty of birthday treats. With that sweet face and party spirit, she clearly knows how to make a celebration memorable.

Dog Parenting Might Mirror Your Upbringing
Ever notice yourself using the same voice your parents used on you, but with your dog? Turns out, thatās not just dĆ©jĆ vu. A new study shows the way we care for our pups often reflects how we were raised ourselves.
Researchers found that our pet parenting styles, whether more structured or free-spirited, can resemble the ones we grew up with. Those raised by communicative, supportive parents often mirror those traits when training or comforting their dogs. Others may go the opposite direction, intentionally doing things differently than their own childhood experience.
The four main parenting styles, authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved, are now being studied in the dog world, too. Early signs suggest dogs may respond and develop differently based on how theyāre raised, just like children.
Itās one more way our dogs reflect us, and why understanding our own past might be the key to building an even better bond with them.
