Lucy’s Story: From Rescue to Therapy Dog
Lucy is a Chihuahua–Miniature Pinscher mix with big ears, a bigger personality, and the biggest heart. She turns 3 this July, but her journey started in Tennessee, where she was rescued from a hoarding situation. When her soon-to-be mom first saw Lucy’s photo, sent by her son and daughter-in-law who were fostering her, she wasn't sure she was ready for a dog. She had just lost her husband a few months earlier.
Lucy was cute, friendly, and full of energy—but the timing felt uncertain. That changed over the holidays. After spending Thanksgiving and Christmas visits with Lucy, everything clicked. Love won. The only catch? Lucy needed to be spayed, microchipped, and cleared from her previous legal case before she could go home.
In March 2023, Lucy made the 10-hour drive to her forever home in Florida. She’s been spreading joy ever since—not just at home, but at the hospital every Tuesday as a certified therapy dog with Project Pup. She knows when it’s “work day” and loves her job!
Now, Lucy is more than a pet—she’s a partner, a healer, and a four-legged friend to everyone she meets.

Thanks to Donna for sharing Lucy’s story!

Dino’s Twist of Fate…
Dino’s life started in the most unimaginable way—abandoned in the woods at just three days old, alongside another puppy. A passing driver nearly kept going, assuming the worst. But something told her to turn back. That instinct saved two lives.
The puppies were barely clinging to life. The woman cared for them the best she could, then brought them to Alaqua Animal Refuge, a safe haven for animals in need. Dino grew stronger with each passing day and was eventually adopted. But after just a month, he was returned, through no fault of his own.
That twist of fate brought Dino one step closer to where he was meant to be. When one of Alaqua’s volunteers stopped by with her husband, he took one look at Dino and said, “That’s our dog.” And he was right.
Now, 2 ½ years later, Dino is part of a loving family—and best buds with his big sister, Tisbee, who was also adopted from Alaqua. The two are inseparable, and the photo below was snapped during Tisbee’s 7th birthday celebration. From a rough start to a life full of love, Dino’s journey is a reminder that second chances can lead to the best beginnings.

Teddy: A Tiny Dog with a Giant Heart
Teddy may only weigh five pounds, but his impact is immeasurable. At 10 years old, with just a few teeth and a heart condition, Teddy was looking for a soft place to land when his photo popped up online. His sweet little snaggletoothed smile was impossible to resist.
Despite his small size, Teddy is full of personality. He lives for belly rubs, jerky treats, and neighborhood walks—and he tackles each day with tail-wagging excitement.
After the loss of a 100+ pound Old English Sheepdog and a beloved husband, his adopter, Lori, found healing in the paws of this pint-sized senior pup. Teddy has brought comfort, companionship, and an unexpected burst of joy to every single day.
Adopting a senior dog might not be the obvious choice—but for Teddy and his human, it’s been a perfect match filled with love, gratitude, and endless reasons to smile.

Thank you, Lori, for sharing Teddy’s story!
