Dog of the Day, Ranger (Birthday Boy!)
Daily Dig reader Candace shared this birthday king in his party bestāRanger just turned 7 and celebrated like a true VIP!
His day included a long walk, visits to two pet stores (complete with a solo birthday serenade), and a stop by the vet to see his favorite gals. Add in a double-pup cup lunch and an evening celebration with Mom and Dad, and youāve got one seriously happy Lab.
Thanks for sharing Rangerās special day with us, Candace! Want your pup featured as the Daily Dig Dog of the Day? Send in a photo and a few fun factsāthey might be next!

Dobermanās Joyful Reunion at the Dog Park
You know that moment when your dog spots a favorite friend from across the park? Multiply it by tenāthatās what happened when Diesel the Doberman saw an old pal he hadnāt seen in months.
The second they locked eyes, tails wagged into overdrive. His friend ran right up like no time had passed, and Dieselās whole body lit up with excitement. Their bond started months earlier with shared zoomies, Jeep rides, and toy inspectionsāand clearly stuck.
According to the American Kennel Club, dogs do remember past relationships, especially the ones tied to happy experiences.
Whether it was the Jeep, the bed, or just good dog vibes, one thingās clear: Diesel made a lasting impression. And judging by the joy on their faces, she did too.

Take the bite out of rising vet costs with pet insurance
Veterinarians across the country have reported pressure from corporate managers to prioritize profit. This incentivized higher patient turnover, increased testing, and upselling services. Pet insurance could help you offset some of these rising costs, with some providing up to 90% reimbursement.

Stitcherās Corner: Toothbrushing Tips
Dog breath. We all know that it can really stink. So, how can you keep those teeth healthy and that breath fresh? Regular brushing is key. We have some foolproof tips:
Use the right tools: Always use a dog-specific toothbrush and toothpaste. Human toothpaste contains harmful ingredients like xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. Pet-friendly toothpaste comes in flavors like chicken or peanut butter that your dog will enjoy.
Make it a routine: Brushing a few times a week is better than none at all, but daily brushing is ideal. Try to make it part of your routineāwhether itās after breakfast or right before bedtime.
Be patient: Start with short sessions, and gradually work up to brushing for a minute or more. Reward your dog with praise and treats to create a positive association with the process.
Brushing isnāt the only way to care for your dogās oral health. Chew toys and dental treats are also great at scrubbing away plaque while your dog has a snack. Just be sure the chews are safe and designed for dental health.

Only about 4% of U.S. pet owners have pet insurance
Pet care costs are rising, yet not enough people are doing something about it. Pet insurance can significantly offset rising costs ā all for as low as $10 a month. Want to join the 4% club?
