Mini Omelette Recipe for National Cook for Your Pet Day

What a holiday, right? November 1st celebrates National Cook for Your Pet Day, encouraging all of us dog parents to whip up something special for our pups. Cooking for your dog is great for so many reasons, but one of the best? Seeing how they light up when you hand over a big bowl of something tasty, different, and delicious!

To help you celebrate, hereā€™s a healthy, vet-approved mini omelette recipe to make for your dog today:

Youā€™ll need:

  • 2 eggs

  • Ā½ cup cooked, thinly sliced salmon or pulled grilled chicken (if using chicken, ensure itā€™s skinless and boneless)

  • Ā½ green bell pepper, diced

Directions:

  1. Lightly grease a frying pan with extra virgin olive oil over medium-high heat.

  2. Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk until mixed.

  3. Pour the eggs into the heated pan, tilting it to spread evenly.

  4. Once the eggs are halfway firm, sprinkle on the green pepper and salmon or grilled chicken.

  5. Fold the omelet in half with a spatula and cook until firm.

  6. Remove from the pan, let cool, and serve to your much-deserving pup!

What Type of Dog Food Do You Feed Your Pup?

When it comes to feeding our doggos, we want the best of the best. These days, the options can seem endlessā€”and a bit overwhelming! From kibble to raw, letā€™s break down the basic dog food types, so you can figure out what works best for your pup!

Dry Food (Kibble): The classic. Crunchy, easy to store, and typically affordable, kibble is the go-to for many dog parents. While kibble sometimes gets a bad rap, there are tons of formulas nowadays with fewer fillers, organic ingredients, and healthier options to meet your dogā€™s needs.

Wet Food (Canned): Think of this as the gravy train of dog foods. Packed with moisture, flavor, and an aroma that will have your pup running (especially great for picky eaters!). But fair warningā€”once you introduce wet food, there's no turning back. At least, thatā€™s what my pup taught me!

Raw Food: Raw diets are all the rage for dog parents who want to go back to the basics. This is food in its most natural stateā€”meat, bones, and organsā€”but it does come with some risks, especially when it comes to bacteria.

Dehydrated Food: This is food with the moisture removed through low-heat cooking. Some dehydrated foods are even considered raw. Just add water, and your pupā€™s meal is ready! Itā€™s like serving up a fresh meal without all the effort.

Freeze-Dried Food: A step up from dehydrated, freeze-dried food retains even more nutrients. You can serve it dry or rehydrate it with water. Itā€™s perfect for those who want to feed raw without handling it directly.

What do you feed your pup? Have you ever tried a type that didnā€™t quite work out? Weā€™d love to hear about your experiences with dog food!
