This Dog’s Playdate With a Capybara Went Viral

In Brazil, a curious dog named Marley recently stole the spotlight with his unconventional playdate. While out for a walk near a riverside park, Thayler Aragão was taken aback when he witnessed Marley, a small caramel-colored dog, trying to initiate a game of tag with a capybara—the world’s largest rodent.

Marley’s playful antics weren’t a one-time thing. Turns out, the dog sneaks out every day to explore the town and engage in his own little adventures. His owners were alerted to his behavior after the viral video of Marley and the capybara spread online, with fans charmed by the dog’s cheeky ways.

While Marley seemed to be having a blast, capybaras, known for being peaceful vegetarians, can bite when provoked too much. Thankfully, no harm was done during this amusing encounter.

The heartwarming video sparked a reminder from Aragão to always respect wildlife and keep pets safe, especially around wild animals. Who knows where Marley’s next adventure will take him?

Cats (and Humans) Love This New Litter

Tailfeather is an eco-friendly, soft cat litter made from coconuts and cassava.

Why coconut? Coconut makes for a soft, luxurious texture that cats love and is 70% lighter than traditional litter, but also doesn't track and bounce out of the box. The husk of the coconut absorbs liquid up to 9 times its weight for excellent absorption and odor control.

Tailfeather clumps like traditional cat litter for easy scooping and removal, keeping the remaining litter fresh and clean.

Unlike traditional litter that is non-renewable and ends up in landfills, Tailfeather is plant-based, biodegradable, and has no artificial fragrances. The packaging is also recyclable and has no plastic.

Tailfeather is delivered conveniently to your door, and each package lasts for 8 weeks, double the amount of other litters.

Can We Reduce Our Dogs' Carbon Pawprint?

Our furry friends are not just family—they’re also part of the planet we share. As pet ownership grows, it’s important to consider the environmental impact of our pets, particularly their food. While dogs love their meals, some small shifts in their diet can help reduce their carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the planet.

Switching to more eco-friendly options for your dog can be easy and beneficial. For example, choosing dry dog food instead of wet food can significantly lower carbon emissions. This is because wet food, typically higher in animal-based ingredients, creates more environmental strain. You can also explore plant-based diets that are not only healthier for the planet but may even offer health benefits for your dog, too.

Another small change is supporting companies that prioritize sustainable, ethical pet food production. Opting for responsibly sourced ingredients can ensure your dog’s meals don’t harm the environment. Together, these simple steps help reduce our pets’ carbon pawprints, contributing to a greener future for all. By making mindful choices, we can love our dogs and the planet, too!

Help the Planet with These Pet Parenting Tips

As pet parents, we love our fur babies, but it’s easy to forget the environmental impact of caring for them. Fortunately, making your pet care routine more eco-friendly doesn’t have to be complicated. Small changes can help reduce your dog’s carbon pawprint while still keeping them happy and healthy.

Start by buying pet food in bulk, which reduces packaging waste and shipping costs. You can also explore plant-based or novel protein options for your pet, which are more sustainable. Many pet food brands are starting to prioritize eco-friendly ingredients, so you can feel good about what you’re feeding them.

When it comes to accessories, look for eco-friendly toys and beds made from recycled or biodegradable materials. Companies are getting creative with sustainable products, so there are plenty of options out there. Even something as simple as opting for sustainable cat litter can make a difference.

Lastly, consider adopting instead of buying from breeders. Not only will you be saving a life, but you'll also help combat pet overpopulation, reducing the demand for resources. By making these easy changes, you can give your pet the best life while being kinder to the planet.

🦴 A Little Treat

🤔 True or False?: True! Dogs have an extraordinary sense of smell, and they can detect the subtle scent changes that occur when humans experience different emotions. For example, when a person is stressed or anxious, their body produces certain hormones (like cortisol), and dogs can detect these changes through their sense of smell.
