Dogs dream only of chasing things.

This National Day Honors Hardworking Pups
āWork like a dogā might sound like a contradiction when your pupās biggest task is choosing a nap spot. But for centuries, dogs have earned that phrase, and many of these dogs take their roles very seriously.
From herding sheep to sniffing out danger, working dogs have long played key roles alongside humans. Breeds like Border Collies, German Shepherds, and Huskies thrive on structured tasks, and many are happiest when they have a job to do.
Even today, service dogs, search-and-rescue dogs, and military dogs undergo rigorous training to perform essential work. Their focus, discipline, and loyalty make them some of the most dependable coworkers around.
So on National Work Like a Dog Day, August 5, youāve got two options: channel a sled dogās determination, or embrace the snoozy ādogās lifeā version. If you ask us, both are valid!

What Vets Say Should Be in Your Dogās Bowl
Most dogs wonāt complain if somethingās missing from their meals, but their bodies will. According to vets, there are six essential nutrients your dog needs to stay healthy and happy: protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and water.
Protein keeps muscles strong and supports everyday repair and growth. Healthy fats nourish the brain, skin, and joints. Carbs, while not required, can offer steady energy, especially for puppies, nursing dogs, or active breeds.
Vitamins and minerals may not get much attention, but they help with everything from bones and healing to fluid balance and nerve function. And water? It's the most important of all. Your dog needs about an ounce per pound of body weight daily.
The good news: there are quality commercial dog foods that already include these nutrients in vet-approved amounts. But each dog is different, and their needs shift with age, activity, and breed. If youāre ever unsure, your vet is your best partner. After all, feeding your dog well is one of the simplest, most powerful ways to show them love.

The Food That Fuels Dog Heroes

These heroes are fueled with premium nutrition designed to support their intensive preparation. Mixing top-quality Nulo products keeps them energized and ready for any mission.

Service Dog Meets Pluto
Forest is a highly trained service dog: calm, focused, and reliable. But even the best professionals have a soft spot, and for Forest, itās the character Pluto. During a Disney cruise with his handler, Ashton, Forest saw his favorite character and just couldnāt hold back his excitement.
In the viral moment, Forest drops his usual composure and happily bounces over to Pluto for some tail-wagging play. The actor behind the costume clearly got the memo: this moment was for Forest. The two played until Forest, or maybe Ashton, decided it was time to head back to work.
The sweet interaction reminded viewers that service dogs may be trained for serious tasks, but theyāre still dogs at heart. They give their all every day, and seeing one enjoy a moment just for him? Thatās something special.
Ashton often uses her platform to share these joyful moments while educating others about the role and rights of service dogs. And thanks to Forest, more people are learning with a smile.
