Dog Sneaks to the Neighbor's House Every Morning
Zeppole is a golden retriever who loves swimming. His owners don’t have a pool in their yard, but he’s found another way to get his laps in every day. Zeppole has gotten into the habit of sneaking over the fence and jumping into the neighbor’s pool at 6 AM. Maybe he thinks no one will be up early enough to catch him, or maybe he just likes to start his morning off with a swim.
Hopefully, these owners are good friends with those neighbors, but who could be mad at this face?
Common Summer Allergies for Dogs
Seasonal allergies affect dogs as well as humans, so the summer season might be hiding a few things that could impact your pup this summer. If you notice your dog’s allergies and symptoms flare up this time of year, it’s possible that they have some seasonal allergies. Here are the most common allergens:
Tree, weed, and grass pollen
Mold spores and mildew
Dust mites
Insect bites
Smog
Some of the symptoms that might appear in your pup include irritated skin, dry skin, watery eyes, excessive paw licking, chewing on skin, inflamed ears, excessive shedding, and sneezing. If you have noticed these behaviors in your pup, it’s good to chat with your veterinarian and address the problem. They can help you determine the allergen that’s causing the problem and give you some ideas to soothe your pup.
You can also reduce allergen exposure in your home and keep outdoor activities minimal when the exposure is high. Air purifiers are also helpful at home. Clean and vacuum often to reduce dust mites and pollen brought in from outside. It’s also helpful to bathe your pup often.
DOTD - Meet Bella
Our reader, Deb, sent in this photo of Bella enjoying time on the water. She loves kayaking and has been doing it since she was three months old. Deb has to keep her tied to the kayak, however, because she loves jumping in whenever she sees fish, floating sticks, or any other items in the water. It’s great that she has a life jacket. Thanks for sharing, Deb!
