Rescue Dog Gets Tucked In Every Night
An adorable rescue named Ryder has melted nearly 2 million hearts with his nighttime routine. His mom shares that Ryder needs to be tucked in each night to get a good sleepāand he truly deserves it after spending two years of his life in a shelter.
Ryder, with his caramel brown eyes and goofy, lovable face, resembles a real-life Scooby-Doo. His routine is shown in this video and kicks off with putting on fitted pajamas, printed with monkeys and bananas (could he get any cuter?), and enjoying a tasty bedtime snack. After slipping into his jammies, Ryder shuffles his blanket around for a good while until itās pillow-perfect.
The final touch of his bedtime routine is his mom lovingly covering him with a blanket, and then his sleepy eyes close, ready for a good nightās sleep. Itās so heartwarming to see Ryder in his forever home where heās safe and tucked in each night!
5 Benefits of Sleeping with Your Pup
Iām the first to admit that I sleep with my dogsāall four of them. Thereās nothing like waking up to their excited kisses and thumping tails. They act like waking up next to me is something new; but theyāre just that ecstatic to see me every single day. Thankfully, thereās no shame in co-sleeping with your pups; research supports its benefits. Itās no wonder that half of dog owners sleep with their dogs! Check out the 5 benefits of sleeping with your pup.
Comfort and Security. Most of us feel a sense of comfort and security with our dogs by our side ā after all, is there a better place to feel safe than in bed at night? Theyāll definitely wake you if they hear anything suspiciousā¦ or just an overnight Amazon delivery (oops!). A 2018 survey of adult women found that sharing a bed with a dog often provides more comfort and security than sleeping with another person or even a cat. For those with PTSD, service dogs trained to intervene during nightmares can offer significant relief, with 57 percent of veterans in a study reporting that their dogs effectively eased their nightmares.
Lowers Anxiety, Stress, and Depression. Co-sleeping with your dog can help alleviate almost any emotional ailment you have including anxiety, stress, depression, and loneliness. Dogs boost our oxytocin levels and reduce cortisol levels, which can be triggered by just looking at their precious faces. However, physical touch is especially powerful for feeling good, so snuggling with your pup at night is definitely the way to go! A study even found that people with pets were less likely to take sleep medication compared to those without pets.
Strengthens Your Immune System. Our crazy doggos bring dirt and dog hair into the home, but this exposure to bacteria actually benefits our immune systems. Exposure to dogs, especially for children and infants, can lower the risk of developing asthma and allergies. Even petting your dog for just 18 minutes can boost immunoglobulin A (IgA) levels in your saliva, which helps protect against infections. Just imagine the immune boost from sleeping with them for 6+ hours a night. Sure, sharing your bed means dealing with dog hair sprinkled on your sheets, but the benefits are well worth the extra cleaning!
They Keep You Warm. Dogs run at a higher body temperature than we do, making them the perfect bed warmers. Throughout history, many cultures embraced co-sleeping with animals as the norm. For instance, Aboriginal Australians and Alaskan Eskimo tribes often slept with their dogs for warmth on cold nights. One of my dogs is my personal little heater and insists on snuggling under the blankets!
You Will Turn Into a Morning Person. If youāre not a morning person, sleeping with your pup might just change that for you. They have a knack for waking you up at the crack of dawn, begging to get up and go out. If you need to wake up early for work, they are the perfect alarm clock. Plus, itās nearly impossible not to start your day in a good mood with their morning kisses!
As always, what works for one family might not work for yours. If you have a sleep disorder, are a light sleeper (especially with a big snorer), have allergies, or face other serious health issues, sleeping with your pup might not be the best choice. And thatās perfectly okay! Whatās your sleeping arrangement with your pup?

Doggy Dreams
As we watch our pups with their tiny barks and running paws while they sleep, we can't help but wonder: Are they dreaming? What are they dreaming about?
While we canāt be 100% sure, the evidence suggests that dogs do dream! Just like us, dogs experience REM sleep, where dreams are the most vivid and memorable. This is the stage where we see our pups twitch, bark, and yip ā classic signs theyāre deep in dreamland. Scientists have studied sleep cycles in both people and dogs and found that their dreaming patterns are surprisingly similar.
Now, onto the fun part: what could our pups be dreaming about? Behavioral experts believe our dogs are likely dreaming about real-life experiences, like chasing squirrels, playing fetch, or those beloved nose smooches and forehead nuzzles from you! When I see my dog's paws paddling away in their sleep, I love to imagine they're frolicking in a beautiful, open field, filled with the happiest feelings they can possibly have. While our pups canāt tell us their dream stories, it's fun to guess and imagine where their dreams take them!
DOTD - Meet Dolly and Beni
Dolly and Beni are two inseparable pups who love nothing more than a day full of snuggling and cuddling. Dolly, a two-year-old Sheepadoodle, and little Beni, a newly turned one-year-old Bernedoodle, also adore spending time with their humans. Both of these pups were rescued from unfit homes by 7 Hearts Maternity Rescue and are truly lucky that they found each other. Not only do they fill their owners' hearts with joy, but each otherās as well. Thanks for sharing their wonderful story!
