Man Rescues a Dog and Allows Him Sunlight

Cricket had a rough start to life, being thrown from a moving vehicle just six months into her life. Sheā€™s a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and after her challenges as a puppy, she lived in a cage where her owner didnā€™t let her out to see the sun. Thankfully, a man named Josh figured out what was happening and confronted her owner. He gave him two options - either give up the pup or he would be contacting the authorities.

Josh immediately took Cricket for ice cream and a nice run in a field. After a few baths, the dirt and filth were washed from her coat, and she started to thrive in her new home. Josh had been looking for a service dog to help with his PTSD, and he decided that she would be the perfect companion to train.

Cricket has become Josh's ā€œblanket dog.ā€ She loves to snuggle and show affection. She always wants to be near him and is doing exceptionally well as Joshā€™s service dog.

Don't Skip Your Dog's Walk

Michigan State University conducted a study on the benefits of walking your dog and found that ā…” of dog owners routinely walk their dogs. The rest rely on a yard and just let the pups out to go to the bathroom. However, skipping your dogā€™s walk can impact the dogā€™s emotional and physical well-being.

Dogs need exercise, and they canā€™t do it all on their own. Depending on their breed and age, some need more exercise than others. A typical yard doesnā€™t offer enough stimulation or enough movement because itā€™s all familiar.

Allow your dogs to sniff and explore the world. This invites their brains to participate in the walks and have some fun. Some compare sniffing to a dog ā€œchecking their email.ā€ Your pup might want to take their time on some walks and smell every blade of grass.

Next time you want to skip your pupā€™s walk, remember how excited they are whenever they get to come along for an adventure. Itā€™s healthy for you and your pup to leave the house and walk the neighborhood. Look how much the sunshine changed Cricketā€™s life in the previous story. Get outside with your pup today!

DOTD - Meet Mini

Mini is a smushy pup that had a challenging beginning in life. She was the runt of the litter, and they didnā€™t think sheā€™d make it. Her owner, Robert, says they planted her in a flower pot, and now, six years later, sheā€™s thriving. Thanks for sharing this adorable dog with us!
