Corgis Gather for a Halloween Beach Day
Imagine a sandy beach filled with corgis in costumes, their stubby legs bouncing with joy and their ears perked up with Halloween excitement. This adorable vision was a real-life scene – at the Fall Corgi Beach Day 2024, held on October 26 at Huntington Dog Beach. Corgis and their humans came from near and far, ready to celebrate “All Things Howl-O-Ween,” turning the beach into a festive and spooky day.
As the world's largest Corgi gathering, the day was packed with adorable costume contests, giveaways, and treats for both pups and people. Highlights included the beloved Celebrecorg meet & greet, where star corgis like Brady and Graffiti charmed fans and posed for photos.
The fun continued with spirited contests that saw a corgi named Zoey win the Cutest Cardigan title, Bonapart take the crown for Loudest Bark, and Mazi flaunt the best Howl-O-Ween costume. There was even a “Best Momo” contest to celebrate those fluffy corgi butts, with Beau winning that prize.
And, in true Corgi Beach Day tradition, a portion of the proceeds went to Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue, a partner in the event (which has rescued more than 157 dogs since its establishment in 2013). Organizers, So Cal Corgi Nation, hinted at exciting new additions for next year. With interactive activities, fresh vendors, and more room to romp, Corgi Beach Day 2025 already sounds like an event I want to be a part of!

The Special Impact of Dogs Visiting Senior Centers
There’s something magical about seeing the happiness a visiting dog brings to seniors. Therapy dogs are gentle and friendly, offering more than just a warm presence—they lift spirits and make people feel seen and loved.
For many seniors, spending time with a dog helps ease feelings of loneliness and anxiety, sparking comfort and connection. The presence of a calm, loving pup also releases oxytocin, the hormone that boosts trust, empathy, and even memories.
These visits don’t just make senior residents smile—they often inspire conversations, whether sharing stories about beloved past pets or talking to one another more. Some seniors have even found purpose in these visits, looking forward to the weekly routine of caring for “their” therapy dog, if only for a little while.
For many seniors, the pup is more than a visitor; it’s a friend who makes them feel whole, content, and calm. Isn’t it incredible what a bit of fur and a wagging tail can do?
