Top Reasons Why an In-Home Dog Sitter Benefits Your Pup

Leaving your pup behind for a vacation or work trip can feel like a big deal—especially if you’re nervous about them being in someone else’s care. That’s where in-home dog sitting comes to the rescue! Here are some top reasons why having a sitter in your home is a win-win for your pup’s happiness (and your peace of mind).

  1. Home Sweet Home = Comfort

Some dogs are just happiest at home, especially those who tend to be a bit anxious. Staying in their space, rather than adjusting to new people, dogs, sounds, and smells, can make all the difference. Plus, every dog has their go-to cozy spot—whether it’s that sunny spot on the porch or their well-worn spot on the couch. With an in-home sitter, your pup doesn’t have to give up any of their comfort spots.

  1. Routine Is Everything

Most dogs love routine—it’s their way of staying grounded. When a dog sitter stays at your house, they keep your pup’s daily schedule on track. That means no unpredictable meal times, missed walks, or the confusion of being in an unfamiliar place. In-home care makes sure their days flow just like they normally would – full of belly rubs, treats, and playtime in the yard.

  1. Extra Playtime

A great dog sitter won’t just be there to watch your dog—they’ll be their best friend for the weekend. From extra walks to endless rounds of fetch, your pup will get tons of exercise and attention (maybe even more than usual). Honestly, they might not even notice you’re gone
 well, sometimes!

  1. Less Germs

We all want to keep our dogs healthy, and staying home reduces their exposure to illnesses from other dogs. No risk of kennel cough or catching a stomach bug from another dog in their own home!

  1. Flexibility and Convenience

In-home dog sitters offer much more flexibility than most boarding facilities, which can fill up fast. Once you’ve found a trusted sitter, sometimes you can take off on a last-minute trip. Need to adjust their arrival time or ask them to stay an extra day? No problem! In-home sitters staying with your pups usually focus on just them, so they’re often happy to accommodate changes if their schedule allows.

Ground Rules for Dog Sitters Staying In Your Home

Trusting a dog sitter with your pup is no small matter. That being said, it's important to set clear expectations to ensure a smooth experience for everyone. Here are some key ground rules to keep things safe and stress-free for your precious fur baby.

How Long Can Your Dog Be Left Alone? Be upfront about how long your dog can comfortably be left alone. Whether it’s for a few hours or not at all, make sure your sitter knows what works best for your dog’s comfort and well-being.

Responsibilities for Your Pup. Clarify your dog’s needs and routines. Do they need medication, multiple walks, or specific feeding times? Clear instructions will help your sitter stay on top of your dog’s care.

Bringing Other Dogs. If your dog isn’t social or prefers to be the only pup in the house, make sure your sitter knows not to bring their own dog or other pets. This will help avoid any unexpected stress or conflict.

Handling a Mischievous Dog. If your dog is a big troublemaker, let your sitter know to keep things like toxic foods, chargers, or dangerous items well out of reach. This is no joke. True story: we have a pup who loves to chew everything. We made sure to warn the sitter, but she left her laptop charger on the bedroom floor. Our dog chewed through it, sparked a fire, and burned a hole in the rug. Let’s just say
that was her last time watching our dog.

Guests and Visitors. If your dog isn’t a fan of strangers or takes a long time to warm up, let your sitter know they shouldn’t invite friends over. Clear boundaries help keep your pup relaxed and in their comfort zone.

Outings & Off-Leash Rules. If you’re comfortable with outings, make sure to let the sitter know ahead of time. It’s also important to discuss whether you trust your dog off-leash in public spaces—especially when they’re with someone other than you.

Is there anything else you’d recommend discussing with a dog sitter? What rules are most important for you?

This New Toilet Paper Just Might Save the Planet

Every 24 hours, 27,000 trees are cut down to make toilet paper. To us, that feels like way too many — and Honeycomb agrees. That’s why this small, female-founded brand created luxury, three-ply toilet tissue made from bamboo. It feels just like regular high-end toilet paper but doesn’t harm trees.

So why bamboo? It’s the fastest-growing plant in the world — growing 100 times faster than the average tree — which means thousands of rolls can be produced in the time it takes for a single tree to grow back.

Even better? Code DIG30 will give new customers 30% off their first order for the next 24 hours.

Unlikely Best Friends: Max and Fred

This unlikely friendship comes in the form of a dog and a duck. The playful dog’s name is Max, and the duck goes by Fred. According to their mom, these two are best friends who love to wrestle together.

In this adorable friendship, Fred nibbles on Max everywhere while Max rolls around, tongue hanging out, and having the time of his life. What a special and one-of-a-kind friendship they get to experience! The best part is—they don’t even realize how “unlikely” or “different” their bond is; all they know is how much fun they have together.

Final Bark

In the time it takes to read today’s edition, an estimated 93 trees will be cut down to meet toilet paper demand. Honeycomb is helping to change that with luxury, three-ply tissue made from sustainable bamboo. It’s biodegradable, plastic-free, and will be delivered straight to you.

New customers can use code DIG30 for 30% off their first shipment. Expires tonight.
