True or False?

Some dogs can smell human sadness.

Puppy Crashes Football Game

Some dogs simply can’t resist chasing a ball. For one Golden Retriever puppy in the park, the rules of the game didn’t matter. When he spotted a group tossing a football, instinct kicked in and he raced to join.

The pup trotted right into the action, tail wagging and eyes locked on the prize. In true Retriever style, he caught the ball like it was meant for him all along, turning the strangers’ pickup game into his personal fetch session. Witnesses say the smile on his face was impossible to miss.

Golden Retrievers are known for their friendly, people-loving nature. They thrive on making new friends, whether it’s at the dog park, in the neighborhood, or during an impromptu sports cameo.

The little quarterback didn’t just get his moment in the spotlight. He gave everyone around him one of those simple, joy-filled memories dogs are so good at creating. Sometimes the best plays aren’t planned after all.

Easy Ways to Include Your Dog on Game Day

For football fans, game day is a big deal, and your dog can be part of the tradition, too. With a little preparation, they can enjoy the excitement right alongside you.

Start with the gear. A team-themed bandana, collar, or lightweight jersey can be a fun way to show spirit without making your dog uncomfortable. If clothing isn’t their thing, even a colorful accessory can do the trick.

Don’t forget the snacks. Try dog-safe treats like plain ā€œpupcornā€ or homemade biscuits using pet-friendly ingredients. Keep water nearby, especially if guests are around, to make sure your dog stays hydrated.

A cozy setup can make all the difference. Set out a comfy bed or blanket in a quieter spot so they can relax between plays. Add a few puzzle toys to keep them entertained when the game gets loud.

With the right mix of comfort, fun, and snacks, your dog might just become your favorite game day MVP.

The Real MVP at College Football Media Day

Game day can bring fierce competition, but sometimes, the biggest star isn’t even on the field. At this year’s College Football Playoff Media Day, Kirk Herbstreit’s Golden Retriever, Peter, had fans and players alike grinning from ear to ear.

Dressed in a checkerboard bandana, Peter charmed everyone he met. Videos posted by ESPN’s College GameDay showed him mingling with players, coaches, and fans as if he’d been born for the spotlight. For many, he was a bright, wagging reminder that joy often comes in four-legged form.

Peter’s growing popularity follows in the pawprints of Herbstreit’s late Golden Retriever, Ben, who was beloved by fans across the country. Ben traveled with Herbstreit for years, becoming a familiar and heartwarming presence on the sidelines.

Since stepping into that role, Peter has met mascots like Georgia’s Uga and even received gifts from Notre Dame. Whether greeting strangers or trotting across a championship field, he’s proving that some of the best game day moments don’t involve the scoreboard at all.
