Meaningful Days to Celebrate This April
Happy April! April is filled with moments that invite a little more awareness, care, and connection. From Earth Month to National Park Week and Earth Day on April 22, it’s a time when many people pause to think about their impact and how they can support the world around them. But alongside environmental moments, April also highlights a wide range of causes, from Autism Acceptance Month to Stress Awareness Month, reminding us how interconnected these topics really are.
What makes this month feel especially meaningful is how accessible it is to take part. Some actions are simple, like spending time in nature, supporting a local park, or learning more about a cause you care about. Others might look like volunteering, donating, or having conversations that build understanding and connection. Even small steps can help bring attention to issues that often go unnoticed.
Rather than trying to do everything, April can be a chance to choose one or two moments that resonate and start there. Whether it’s planting something on Arbor Day, supporting conservation on Earth Day, or simply learning something new, these small actions can quietly shape a more thoughtful and connected way of living.

Dog of the Day, Lily
Meet this fluffy heart-stealer, Lily, submitted by Daily Dig reader Jennifer. With those soft curls, bright eyes, and perfectly posed paws, this pup already looks like a natural in front of the camera.
Whether lounging on the floor or waiting patiently for the next play session, this little one brings a calm, sweet energy that’s hard to resist.
Thank you to Daily Dig reader Jennifer for sharing Lily with us! Have a pup who deserves the spotlight? Send in a photo for a chance to see your dog featured as a future Daily Dig Dog of the Day!

Is There a Better Option Than Shaving?
For a lot of people, hair removal is one of those ongoing tasks that quietly eats up time, money, and energy. Shaving can lead to razor burn and ingrown hairs. Waxing takes planning, patience, and regular appointments. Even then, the results don’t always last as long as you’d hope.
LaserAway helps make smooth skin easier to maintain. They have performed millions of treatments using advanced laser technology that works on all skin types. Treatments are designed to target unwanted hair at the root, so hair grows back thinner, softer, and less dense over time.
Laser hair removal also helps soften and smooth skin, while reducing common issues like ingrown hairs and razor burn. Treatments are available for the face and body, including arms, legs, bikini area, and more. LaserAway also offers bundled options if you’re looking to treat multiple areas at once, making it easier to save both time and money in the long run.
For a limited time, Daily Dig readers get 70% off select treatment packages. If you’re ready to simplify your routine and spend less time shaving or waxing see if laser hair removal is right for you.
Thank you to LaserAway for sponsoring Daily Dig.

How One Sanctuary Is Changing Life for Stray Cats
In South Alabama, a quiet sanctuary is giving hundreds of cats a different kind of future. Coastal Cats & Critters started with a single relocated colony and has grown into a home for around 350 cats, along with a mix of farm animals who’ve also found their way there.
For many of these cats, adoption isn’t the right fit. Some are feral, others struggle in traditional homes, and a few, like a cat named Willow, simply prefer life on their own terms. At the sanctuary, they have space to roam, indoor care when needed, and the freedom to choose how much human interaction they want.
The property is designed with their needs in mind. Outdoor enclosures, climate-controlled barns, and separate areas for cats requiring extra care all help create a stable environment. Volunteers and staff provide daily support, while visitors add enrichment and social interaction.
Beyond the sanctuary itself, the team focuses on prevention. From pet food pantries to community education, their goal is to keep cats in homes whenever possible and offer a safe place when that’s not an option.

A Guide to Spring Seasonal Eating
Seasonal eating isn't a new concept but it's having a moment, and spring is a great time to get into it. As temperatures warm up, produce like strawberries, asparagus, peas, and leafy greens hit their peak, and the difference in flavor compared to off-season versions is noticeable.
The nutritional case for it is real too. Fruits and vegetables are at their highest nutrient content when harvested at peak ripeness. Produce that's shipped out of season is typically picked early and travels long distances before it reaches you, which means it's had more time to lose both flavor and nutrients.
Beyond your plate, seasonal eating tends to be easier on your wallet since higher supply means lower prices at the grocery store. It also supports local farmers and cuts down on the fuel and refrigeration needed to transport food from far away.
The easiest way to start is a trip to a local farmer's market to see what's actually growing near you right now. If that's not an option, most grocery stores label seasonal and local produce, and the Seasonal Food Guide website lets you search by state to see exactly what's in season where you live.
