Why does my dog…

Why does my dog bark at Halloween decorations?

Guide to Dog-Friendly Halloween Treats

Halloween might be all about the candy for humans, but for dogs, it can be a minefield of temptations. Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free candy), and even raisins can make pups seriously sick. Wrappers can also be dangerous if swallowed. Keeping the candy bowl high up and out of reach is one of the best treats you can give your dog.

But that doesn’t mean your dog has to miss out. Whip up a few dog-friendly goodies with ingredients like pumpkin, oats, or xylitol-free peanut butter. For a quick DIY recipe, mix pumpkin purĆ©e, peanut butter, and a bit of flour, then bake into little bone shapes.

If you’d rather skip the baking, celebrate with a new squeaky toy, a cozy Halloween bandana, or some extra snuggle time after trick-or-treaters head home. The best part of Halloween for your dog isn’t the candy. It’s being right there with you to celebrate the festivities.

Halloween’s Almost Here—Be Ready

Halloween is just days away, meaning chocolate, candy, and THC edibles are everywhere. Unfortunately, it’s also the #1 time of year for accidental dog poisonings.

ReadyRESCUEā„¢ is the first-of-its-kind, vet-designed emergency tool that helps you act fast when your dog gets into something they shouldn’t. Its clean, easy-to-give activated carbon spheres rapidly bind toxins in the stomach and intestines, helping limit absorption into the bloodstream.

Think of it as a fire extinguisher for your dog’s health: you hope you never need it, but when you do, it can make all the difference.

Don’t wait for a Halloween emergency. Be prepared now.

Dog of the Day, Coco

Daily Dig reader Prasanna says it best: Coco was never part of their family’s plan… until he became the best part of it. This soulful Jack Russell Terrier joined the family during the pandemic and quickly became the center of their world.

With a giant heart and a zoomie-filled welcome for everyone he meets, Coco spreads joy wherever he goes. He’s even inspired friends to adopt dogs of their own. One fun detail: his lashes are white on one eye and black on the other, a tiny clue to his big personality.

Photos are tough (he’s always moving!), but his love is constant. Prasanna shares that every time she comes home to his zoomie welcome, she is reminded of the line from a song: ā€œOf all things I did wrong, I must have done something right to deserve…". Some dogs just feel like fate, and Coco is definitely one of them.

Labrador’s Toy Story Halloween Costume

Some costumes just hit you right in the nostalgia, like the brown Labrador who transformed into Toy Story’s Sheriff Woody for Halloween. A TikTok user shared the pup’s big debut, and let’s just say, it’s impossible not to smile.

The video starts simple enough: a dog waiting patiently, no costume in sight. Then, in a perfect TikTok transition, he reappears dressed head to paw as Woody: yellow plaid shirt, cow-print vest, red neckerchief, and that iconic cowboy hat. The caption? ā€œDo you like it??ā€ Judging by the comments section full of hearts and crying emojis, everyone definitely does.

The costume captures the spirit of Pixar’s kind-hearted cowboy perfectly, and this lab pulls it off with star power.
