The Importance of Caring for Your Dog’s Teeth
Dental care might not be on every dog parent’s radar, but dental disease is actually one of the most common health issues in dogs, affecting 85% of dogs over the age of three. The good news? Keeping your dog's teeth healthy doesn't require expensive treatments or complicated routines, and it's easier than you might think.
Brushing your dog’s teeth daily is the gold standard for prevention, but let’s be real: it’s not always easy. If your pup refuses to use a toothbrush, don't worry; there are other alternatives.
Dental powders mixed into their food can help clean their teeth and freshen their breath. Products like these can be a simple, no-stress alternative to brushing. Another option is dental chews.
And if your dog’s breath has started to smell more foul than usual, that could be a sign of dental disease. This can be worth scheduling a professional cleaning with your vet.

1 Simple Trick to Help Bad Dog Breath
Bad breath in dogs is more than a smell problem. It’s often a sign of bacteria buildup, plaque, and gum inflammation that can affect overall health. The problem? Most dental chews only mask the odor for a few hours, while brushing can be stressful for both you and your dog.
That’s why Pup Labs created ProDenta, a dental powder that can be mixed right into your dog’s food. Formulated with natural ingredients like pumpkin and flavonoid-rich superfoods, ProDenta helps remove tartar, freshens breath, and supports strong teeth and gums.
Each serving also flushes out bad bacteria from your dog’s mouth, which reduces inflammation and promotes healthy digestion. It’s safe for dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds. Plus, every order comes with a free gift and a 180-day money-back guarantee, so there’s zero risk in trying it.

Dogs of the Day, Eisley and Oscar
Meet today’s Dog of the Day duo, Eisley (left) and Oscar (right). They’re 10-year-old littermates. These two give off strong “best friends for life” energy.
Eisley brings the thoughtful, watchful vibe, while Oscar looks ready for a nap, a snack, or both. After a decade side by side, they’ve clearly settled into a rhythm that only longtime siblings can pull off.
Thank you to a Daily Dig reader for sharing Eisley and Oscar with us. Want to see your dog (or dogs!) featured as a Daily Dig Dog of the Day? Send in a photo and a short note about your pup, and they might be up next.

Puppies Show Advanced Learning Skills Sooner Than Expected
Dogs have always impressed us with how well they understand our routines, moods, and expectations. Now, new research from Duke University suggests they may be getting even better at it, starting as early as puppyhood.
In the study, researchers worked with just over 100 puppies being raised as potential service dogs and tested their problem-solving skills, memory, impulse control, and social awareness. What stood out most was how early dogs begin showing different kinds of intelligence. As young as eight weeks old, many puppies could already interpret human gestures, like pointing, a skill sometimes described as “mind reading.” By around 16 weeks, most had mastered the bulk of what they were taught.
The findings support what scientists call a “third wave of domestication.” Today’s dogs are adapting to life inside our homes, on leashes, around crowds, and alongside kids and seniors. That shift favors dogs who are calm, socially tuned-in, and responsive to people.
For everyday dog parents, it’s a good reminder: dogs learn early, learn differently, and thrive when their strengths are understood. Training, patience, and social exposure during puppyhood can have a lasting impact, because dogs aren’t just growing up with us; they’re evolving right alongside us.
