A Playful Summer Hack for Dog Bathing

Bath time can be a battle, but what if it felt more like play? On hot days, some dog parents are swapping the bathtub for the backyard. With a little shampoo and a lot of running around, sprinklers might just become your pup’s new favorite spa.

The idea is simple: lightly lather your dog’s coat, then let them play through the sprinkler spray to rinse off. Experts recommend following up with a quick scrub and final rinse to make sure no suds are left behind, especially for dogs with sensitive skin.

It’s especially great for water-loving breeds like labs and shepherds. But if your dog is wary of spraying water, you might want to try a slower introduction with a hose instead.

Not every dog loves baths, but almost every dog loves attention. Making the experience fun and relaxed can turn a dreaded task into bonding time.

A Dog Scent That Actually Smells Amazing

Most people notice when your dog smells bad—what if they noticed when they smelled good?

That’s the idea behind Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day for Pets.

Their Sweet Chamomile scent is light, calming, and gently fruity—made to smell great for both people and pups. And with two everyday essentials, it’s never been easier to keep your dog clean:

  • 3-in-1 Dog Shampoo – Cleanses, conditions, and deodorizes in one go. Aloe, oat, chamomile, and rosemary help nourish the coat and skin while leaving behind that soft, sweet scent. Just wet their coat, lather from ears to tail, rinse, and dry.

  • Dog Deodorizing Spritz – Freshens between baths, adds shine, and helps neutralize odors. Spray 6 inches away from ears to tail, avoiding face. Massage in and let dry—no rinse needed.

Both are vet-tested, pH-balanced, and gentle on whiskers and paws—because bath time should feel relaxing and smell great.

Golden Dog of The Day

Daily Dig reader Patricia shared this heartwarming beach moment with her golden companion—sunset, sand, and one very polite pawshake.

This golden retriever clearly knows how to make a connection, whether it’s with a new friend or just enjoying the waves and warm light with their favorite human. Equal parts majestic and gentle, this pup’s got beach day etiquette down to an art.

Thanks for sharing this golden memory with us, Patricia! Want your dog featured as the Daily Dig Dog of the Day? Send in a photo and a few fun facts—they might be next!

What a Dog’s Brain Does With Smell

Have you ever watched your dog sniff the air and wondered why? This is because dogs experience the world primarily through scent, and it turns out they might even feel their way through it too. A new study suggests a dog’s nose doesn’t just detect smells—it taps into memory and emotion, too.

Using a new noninvasive imaging method, researchers saw how specific brain regions—especially the amygdala, which handles emotions—light up when dogs sniff things like garlic, menthol, or even marijuana. It’s like their nose is wired to their heart.

That might explain why some dogs dread the vet before they even walk in the door. Just like with people, scents can become tied to past experiences.

Understanding how dogs process scent could change how we train them, care for them, and even communicate with them.
