Water Safety Tips Every Dog Parent Should Know
Nothing beats a day by the lake with your dog in tow. But whether you're heading to the beach, a mountain stream, or your own backyard pool, water play comes with real risks. A little prep goes a long way.
Not all dogs are natural swimmers. Some breeds tire quickly or need help staying afloat. Start slow, use a properly fitted life jacket, and avoid fast-moving or very cold water that can cause fatigue or even hypothermia.
Pack plenty of clean drinking water and a collapsible bowlānatural sources can carry algae, bacteria, or parasites. After swimming, rinse your dog off to remove chlorine, salt, or debris that might irritate their skin.
And donāt forget recovery. Water play burns energy, so fuel them with a healthy, nutrient-rich meal post-adventure. Add in safety musts like a first aid kit, recall training, and checking for local water advisories, and youāve got everything you need for safe, tail-wagging fun.

Dog of the Day, Rex
Daily Dig reader Karen introduces us to Rex, a 14-week-old chihuahua mix whoās already mastered the art of being totally irresistible.
After 15 years of waiting for the right time, Karen finally welcomed this sweet, silly pup into her life, and itās clear he was worth the wait. Rex loves people, birds, and giving his best (slightly chaotic) efforts to win over the cats. Heās curious, cuddly, and full of puppy charm thatās impossible to ignore.

Science Confirms Dog Videos Are Good for You
If you've ever watched a dog video and thought, Wow, I needed that, it turns out there may be a reason why. A recent study found that watching just five minutes of adorable therapy dogs can measurably lower stress levels!
Researchers asked over 1,000 people to watch calming dog clips and imagine petting the pups. By the end, both students and adults reported feeling noticeably better. Stress scores dropped almost a full point on a five-point scale.
So go ahead, open that puppy reel. Itās not procrastinating after all!
