Dogs have a dominant eye.

Do You Look Like Your Dog?
Ever looked at someone walking their dog and thought, āWow, they kind of look alikeā? Science says thatās not just your imagination. People really do tend to pick dogs that resemble them, and thereās a fascinating psychological reason behind it.
Researchers believe it comes down to something called the mere-exposure effect. We naturally gravitate toward what feels familiar, like faces we see in the mirror every day. That sense of recognition can make a pupās floppy ears or expressive eyes feel instantly comforting, even if we donāt realize why.
One study even showed that strangers could match purebred dogs with their owners just from photos. The stronger the resemblance, the easier the match.
The bottom line? It all comes down to connection! Choosing a dog that feels familiar can create an immediate emotional bond, which helps deepen the relationship over time.

Welcome a shelter dog into your family!
Opening your home to a shelter dog brings joy, love, and loyalty beyond measure.
Sadly, some popular breeds like Golden Retrievers and French Bulldogs suffer from painful genetic health issues due to inbreeding. Rather than supporting breeding that causes suffering, consider adopting.
Shelters are full of loving dogs ready for a second chance. If youāre set on a specific breed, many rescue groups specialize in breed-specific adoption.
Will you pledge to adopt your next dog instead of buying? Give a shelter dog a chance at a loving forever home.

Meet the Dingo, Dogsā Long-Lost Cousin
Before golden retrievers, poodles, or German shepherds, there were dingoes. They are Australiaās native dog and a living link between wild wolves and todayās household pups. New genetic research shows dingoes are not just wild dogs, but an evolutionary offshoot that split off before modern breeds emerged.
Scientists recently sequenced the genome of a pure desert dingo named Sandy, comparing it to several well-known dog breeds and wolves. The results confirmed that dingoes are genetically distinct from both, sitting in the timeline between the grey wolf and domestic dogs.
One key difference? Dingoes donāt carry the extra copies of a starch-digesting gene found in most pet dogs. That change likely developed after humans began feeding early dogs more grains.
Understanding the dingoās genetic blueprint could help scientists pinpoint the origins of common breed-specific illnesses. Think hip problems in Labs or blindness in terriers.
The more we learn about dingoes, the more we understand how dogs became our companions and how to keep them healthy.
