Dog-Approved People Food

If you’ve ever felt those big eyes staring at you while you snack, you know the guilt and the urge to share. Luckily, some ā€œpeople foodsā€ are perfectly safe for dogs and can even make their day a little brighter.

A cooked egg in the morning, a dollop of plain yogurt, or a few bites of salmon can give them protein, healthy fats, and probiotics. Even simple foods like coconut or blueberries offer benefits, from shinier coats to better digestion. Think of it as sneaking a little health boost into their favorite moments with you.

Of course, moderation is key. Peanut butter (unsalted, xylitol-free) or a tiny bit of cheese can turn into a reward your dog will always remember. Sometimes, it’s less about the food itself and more about the bond you’re building when you share it.

Just be sure to steer clear of dangerous foods like chocolate, garlic, or macadamia nuts. A few safe, thoughtful choices can make your pup feel included and keep them healthy.

Not Your Typical ā€œDog Foodā€

If you wouldn’t eat it yourself, why feed it to your dog? At Wet Noses, they believe your dog’s treats should be held to the same standards as your own food. That’s why every recipe is crafted with human grade ingredients and just a few simple, recognizable foods.

Oven-baked in our Washington kitchens, these limited-ingredient treats deliver real nutrition and flavors that make every bite a tail-wagging moment. There are no fillers or shortcuts, just better food for your best friend. See why our dogs love Wet Noses.

Dogs of the Day, Blue and Bear

Meet Bleu and Bear, Alan and Janice’s dynamic duo and the definition of ride-or-die friendship. Bleu, the cream-colored Maltipoo, has been part of the family since she was just 9 weeks old. Her partner in crime, Bear, joined a little later after Janice drove two hours from Delray Beach to Homestead to rescue her from a tough situation and refused to leave without her.

Bear had a rough start, but after some love, she’s found her confidence and now proudly runs the house. The two are inseparable, zooming through life side by side and climbing up their special doggy stairs to snuggle on beds and couches like royalty.

Thanks to Alan and Janice for sharing their story. Want your pups featured next? Send us a photo and a few fun facts. We’d love to showcase them!

Why Dogs Take Food Out of Their Bowls

If your dog treats mealtime like a chance to redecorate the kitchen floor, you’re not alone. Many dogs spill or scatter food, and it’s often less about being messy and more about communication.

Sometimes, dogs simply aren’t hungry or don’t like what’s in the bowl. Overfeeding can also play a role. If the portion is too big, leftovers will land on the floor. In other cases, the bowl itself might be the problem. The clanging sound of a metal dish or the smell of another pet can be enough to make a dog carry food elsewhere.

Instinct is another factor. Dogs’ wild ancestors buried food to save it for later, and some pets still mimic that behavior at home. Others eat so quickly that kibble goes flying, or they drag food to quieter spaces if they want privacy during meals.

Occasionally, spilling points to a health issue, especially if the habit is new. Dental pain or trouble swallowing can cause food to drop. If that’s the case, a vet check is the best next step.
